Working Girl

Boy, a lot has happened in the past two weeks! I’m excited to share that I’m now an official Internet Marketing Specialist for EPS IT, Inc. in Stuart, FL. I’m applying all that I know about Web sites, the Internet, writing and designing, and I’m learning a lot more each day. Technically, I’m working on a per-project basis, but each project has lots of other opportunities connected to it.

I’m helping my customers with Search Engine Optimization of their Web sites (getting their site to pop up first on Google searches). I’m also writing Web site content, creating newsletters, getting the companies connected to the social media world and designing various logos and layouts. I’ve been a busy girl, but I’m definitely happiest when I’m busy and feeling productive. As I learn more and acquire more clients, I will earn more and more. My goal is to move south (West Palm Beach or anywhere south of that in Florida) and eventually start my own company continuing to help businesses and individuals with their Web sites.

It’s such an exciting job because I get to meet so many fabulous people, and every day is different. Plus, you can’t complain about making your own schedule and doing most of your work from home! There aren’t a lot of people who really know what they’re talking about in this field, so there is a huge demand for someone like me.

This (YouTube link below) is one of my first clients. He’s a middle-aged adrenaline junky who developed a special marine camouflage wetsuit. In this video, he and his sons waded chest-deep in Lake Okeechobee hunting for alligators with a speargun. It’s pretty nuts! Please check out this movie (it’s my first video editing job), and I know you won’t be disappointed with the outcome — it’s pretty crazy!

Some of My Favorite Quotes

February 26, 2010 at 11:14 pm (Personal) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I don’t know THAT much about blogging, but I think one shouldn’t be afraid to put themselves out there. I’m just going to keep writing whatever is on my mind and hope somebody also finds my topics interesting!

Here are some of my favorite quotes. Enjoy!

“If it’s meant to be, it’ll be…”

“Everything happens for a reason.”

“You’re killin’ me smalls!” (Sandlot)

“Never frown because you never know who might be falling in love with your smile.”

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.”

“I love you not only for what you are,
but for what I am when I am with you.”

“Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life.” -Dr. David M. Burns

“Life is not about finding yourself; it’s about creating yourself.”

“The most important thing in any relationship is not what you get but what you give… in any case, the giving of love is an education in itself.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

“To each his own.”

“You do what you love, and F*ck the rest.” – Little Miss Sunshine

“Speak the truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. … Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.” -Philosopher Max Ehrmann

Published in the November issue of Stuart Magazine, this is another profile I wrote over the summer. This was a great interview since I had so much in common with this UF grad!

Hopefully this isn’t too small to read, but this is the first entry of my pseudo-portfolio via my blog. Although it’s a short profile, I received several complements on this work, so I’m proud to share it with the world!

Hello world!

Hello World!

This is my very first, professional blog (or at least somewhat professional). I’m almost 22, and compared to most of my peers, I have a lot of experience — which I’m very proud of. I’ve always been a planner, and I’ve always known what I want to do. It’s a little scary knowing I’m graduating college in a little over one semester, and I have no idea where I’m going to be living or what I’m going to do within a year. I do know I want to continue to use my creativity, passion and natural writing abilities in whatever I do. I’m just looking for a great opportunity anywhere in the journalism field– and hopefully in Florida!

Like I said, I’m new to this whole blog thing, so I’m sure I’ll get more interesting and the days go by… I do need to figure out how to upload an online portfolio for myself, though.
